Sex 2.0 Wrap-up

Head did not explode!

My trip to Seattle, WA for Sex 2.0 was full of awesome!

For those that are not familiar with the event - Sex 2.0 is a conference where sex educators of all types can meet, share experiences, and learn from one another. The topic that were presented at the panels and sessions dealt with the multiple aspects of feminism, sexuality, and social media (and in some cases the intersections between them). This was the third year of the conference, and it's future (where it's being held ... if it's being held again) are currently under discussion.

Now for the juicy details of my trip...

I got kissed on the nose...twice... by relationship and sex educator, Reid Mihako.

For those that were expecting some sort of overly sensational expose on my exploits - I'm sorry to disappoint you. I learned long ago that acting out on one's con crushes can lead to dire consequences (especially if it hasn't been cleared with the SO's ahead of time).  Plus, I am probably "too boring" for most of the attendees. ;p

So, without further ado, here's the actual highlights of my adventure:

Google Maps sucks a$$ when it comes to giving details about the Seattle mass transit system. I ended up having to bus-hop more than necessary. Also, having an idea of how much bus fare costs would've saved me time and a headache in calculating how I needed to break the $20's that came out of the ATM.  The change machine that claimed it would break $1's and $5's, and would only break down $1's didn't help much either.

I know that Seattle is rainy, but it was allegedly more rainy this weekend than normal. It was to the point where even locals were pointing it out.

While it was a little awkward being one of three people that wore a swimsuit at the clothing optional pool party, I was far more affected by the massive amount of chlorine (or whatever chemical it was) that the hotel peeps put into the water. After 10 minutes I could barely breathe, let alone see. That was not cool.  The hot tub was a little more tolerable Sunday morning, but it was still full of chemicals (to the point where it looked more like a bubble bath).

Broadway Avenue = hawt fashion. (Thanks to Mai Li for coaxing me out of the hotel)

I forgot how many times I nodded or mentally went "This." when panelists and session leaders talked about how sex educators need to do self-care and to not be ashamed to be compensated for their work.

Along the line of meeting awesome entrepreneurs - I am very honored to have met Ducky Doolittle, owner of Love U Parties.  What she does to help sex-educators (providing them a system to teach where they provide tangible benefits to others -and- pay their own bills) is super-awesome.

All in all, I had a blast. I'm hoping the event happens next year.
